Worth memorizing
Voltage/amplitude: +6 dB = 2×, +20 dB = 10×, −6 dB = ½. Power: +3 dB = 2×, +10 dB = 10×. Loudness: roughly +10 dB = "twice as loud" to human ears. Line levels: pro +4 dBu ≈ 1.23 V, consumer −10 dBV ≈ 0.32 V, difference ≈ 11.8 dB.
Note this page converts electrical and digital levels. dB SPL - sound pressure in the air, what a "70 dB room" means - is the same math referenced to 20 µPa; for measuring that, use the decibel meter.
