Por que meu microfone não funciona no navegador?
Em ordem de probabilidade: (1) permissão negada — clique no ícone de câmera/microfone na barra de endereço e permita o acesso; (2) dispositivo de entrada errado selecionado — confira a entrada padrão nas configurações de som; (3) outro app tem controle exclusivo do microfone; (4) configurações de privacidade do sistema bloqueiam o navegador (comum no macOS e Windows — veja Configurações > Privacidade > Microfone); (5) chave física de mudo ou cabo desconectado.

Por que meu microfone soa baixo?
Confira primeiro o ganho de entrada nas configurações de som — costuma vir baixo de fábrica. Distância importa demais: dobrar a distância até a boca corta o nível mais ou menos pela metade. Headsets e microfones externos geralmente entregam bem mais nível que os embutidos do notebook. Use o medidor daqui para comparar posições e ajustes, buscando movimento forte sem estourar o tempo todo.
Por que soo diferente na reprodução e na vida real?
Dois motivos: você normalmente ouve a própria voz em parte por condução óssea, que adiciona graves que ninguém mais ouve — a gravação fica mais perto do que os outros ouvem. E o processamento do navegador (cancelamento de eco, supressão de ruído) mais a qualidade do microfone moldam o som. Este teste desliga o processamento do navegador para entregar o sinal cru do microfone.
